✦ Debunking the Lie: "We Fight in the Name of God" ✦

A Soul-Based Perspective on War, Violence, and the Divine

For centuries, kings, presidents, soldiers, and zealots have cried, “We fight in the name of God.” These words have justified crusades, conquests, genocides, and invasions. But ask yourself: what kind of God would require or reward the act of killing?

The truth revealed by thousands of Near Death Experiences (NDEs) and spiritual encounters says otherwise. Over and over, people who’ve left their bodies and touched the Light report unconditional love, total acceptance, and a God who is pure peace. Not once do they encounter a deity urging violence. Not once is anyone told, “Go back and fight for me.” The message is almost always this:

Love one another. Forgive. Heal. Be kind. Judge less. Serve more.

These are not the commands of a warmonger. They are the whisper of the Divine Soul—our own Soul—reminding us of who we are.

Key Points That Debunk the "Holy War" Myth

1. God is Love. Period.

  • NDE survivors almost universally describe God as a presence of pure, unconditional love—not a person, not a being with moods or favorites, but a universal force.

  • Love cannot and does not command hatred, division, or bloodshed.

2. The Soul is a Spark of God

  • If our Soul is a direct expression of the Divine, then harming another human being is spiritual self-harm.

  • Killing someone is like cutting off your own finger and saying it's God's will.

3. Free Will is Ours—But So is Responsibility

  • Spiritual sources say we are not puppets. We choose love or hate, compassion or cruelty.

  • God doesn’t command wars. People do. And then they try to legitimize it with religion.

4. True Spirituality Transcends Tribalism

  • Jesus, the Buddha, and many mystics spoke of transcending borders, loving enemies, and being peacemakers.

  • None ever said, “Blessed are the warmongers.”

5. History Shows the Fruits of False Religion

  • "Fighting in God’s name" has led to some of the worst atrocities in human history:

    • The Crusades

    • The Inquisition

    • Colonial massacres

    • Ethnic cleansing

  • All committed under flags bearing crosses, crescents, stars, or sacred texts.

  • These acts were not divine, They were political. Religion was the mask. Power was the motive.

So Who Benefits From “Fighting in the Name of God”?

  • Politicians, who need public support for wars.

  • Religious leaders, who seek to strengthen their grip by preaching fear and us-vs-them ideologies.

  • Weapons manufacturers, who profit from death.

  • None of them speak for the Divine.

A Better Creed: We Live in the Name of God

Let the new banner say:

We Love in the Name of God
We Heal in the Name of God
We Forgive in the Name of God
We Serve in the Name of God

Let this be the true spiritual revolution. One where God’s name is no longer dragged through the blood of war—but lifted through the acts of peace, kindness, and awakening.
